Cartography and GIS Mapping
The owner and founder of our company, Michael Tasker, launched his mapping career at Marco's Pizza, a popular pizza chain of over a thousand stores based in Toledo, Ohio, creating pen-and-ink delivery maps for a few of its stores in 1988. This led to the creation of some local maps of Perrysburg, Ohio and many wedding invitation maps through his startup company, Tasker Mapping, prior to and during college. After graduating the University of Toledo in 1995, with a Bachelors degree in Geography and Planning, he took a job at Rand McNally in Skokie, Illinois working as a Digital Cartographer on The Motor Carrier's Road Atlas and the mainstay Road Atlas. After that, he took a job at Sigma Alpha Epsilon International Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, creating maps and doing administrative work for the Fraternity Realm. In 2000, he landed a career dream job at the Village of Glenview, Illinois as its CAD-GIS Technician, handling all mapping, engineering plans, marketing materials, and website relating to the Glenview Naval Air Station redevelopment project, currently called The Glen, a 1200 acre site in the heart of Chicago's North Shore. As development for that project waned work shifted to GIS implementation for Glenview by 2003. He assisted MGP, Inc., a private contractor consortium hired at the end of 2005 by the Village to assist with digital conversions and enterprise GIS implementation. By 2007, Glenview had a full blown operating GIS system. For the next decade, Michael worked with managing engineering design staff, entering utilities in GIS, archived engineering plans, created monthly Board packet and newsletter maps, public-facing website maps, and marketing maps for various large project redevelopments before semi-retiring in 2017 and relocating to Naples. In 2020, Michael decided to go back to work and did GIS utility work for Collier County. It was decided in 2021 to create Tasker Enterprises, LLC, to continue private sector creation of maps.
